Goodness gracious! I never saw that.

Meanwhile, with these changes, the document compiled (almost). I have a title page with the beautiful background of letters, but I have no "Fonts in Context," nor "Hans Hagen, October 2001."

You need to make sure \usetypescript and \definefontsynonym are actually macros/commands: prepend a backslash!
