I found it: \setupcaptions[location={low,right}]
(I was wrongly looking at \placefigure.)
But there is a buglet: texshow only lists location= "top bottom none
high low middle" and misses left/right.

I found in page-flt also the next keywords:
- outermargin
- innermargin
- leftmargin
- rightmargin
- lefthanging
- righthanging
- outer
- inner
- left
- right
I seems you can use them only in combination with the location
parameters low, high and middle.
