This should be \startPARAGRAPH ... \stopPARAGRAPH where PARAGRAPH stands
for the name of the environment you create with \defineparagraphs.
In MkIV there is also a real paragraph environment (\startparagraph ...
\stopparagraph)
which is usefull for tagged pdf.
