Try to install (in parallel, you don't need to overwrite the old minimals) the beta version and try to compile with that one. It is quite possible that there is a version mismatch between tex macros and ruby scripts (minimals update mtxrun, but not ruby scripts; and the having "current" version installed often causes problems; I will try to fix that).
