Hi Mikael,

I learned the following from Aditya some time ago, on his website Random
Determinism: maybe you can adapt it to your needs.

\defineconversion[myset][\star,{\star\star},{\star\star\star}]
\defineformula[star][numberconversion=myset]

\starttext
\placeformula
\startstarformula
a^4 + b^4 = c^4.
\stopstarformula

\placeformula
\startstarformula
a^5 + b^5 = c^5.
\stopstarformula

\placeformula
\startstarformula
a^6 + b^6 = c^6.
\stopstarformula

\stoptext
