1.) You have to configure your network gear to get the traffic to your
nTop box. Mirroring, SPANing, hubs, netflow, sflow, whatever. It does
not need an agent on hosts - in fact there's no such thing.

2.) you make the ntop.conf. The settings via web gui are stored in a db
file.

Subject: [Ntop] Centralized ntop monitoring - how to?

I compiled and configured ntop on solaris 8 (SPARC), and it seems to be
working for that host. I am able to see all the stats on its web page,
rrd is enabled.

Here are list of questions;

1. Is there a way to add hosts to be monitored on this installation by
either deploying agent(if any) on clients or any configuration?
Essentially I need to centralize monitoring than to install on each host
that seem to have network problems.

2. I don't see any ntop.conf configuration file in recently download
ntop, is the configuration stored in the database and the only way to
access it is via web interface ? I am able to see configs on web
interface and change the settings. Just wanted to know if there is a
config file.

Thanks
