Right - the uninstall will delete the files laid down by the install, but not touch other files in the directory. This includes the .db that has the configuration.
So you will need to manually delete all the files in the ntop directory before reinstalling. -----Burton From: ntop-boun...@unipi.it [mailto:ntop-boun...@unipi.it] On Behalf Of Gary Gatten Sent: Monday, August 03, 2009 1:42 PM To: ntop@unipi.it Subject: Re: [Ntop] Uninstall / Reinstall on Fedora I don't know the directory structure on Fedora - unless RedHat / Fedory use the same exact structure? Ntop installs things in bin, etc, lib, man, and share. Ie: /share/ntop/html The DB files are usually in /usr/local/var/ntop. These are where the rrd files and runtime preferences are stored as well as misc other data files. I am having issues with host.clusters and am hoping a reinstall may fix some things. My issue is that an uninstall isn't really uninstalling. I am using an RPM from Fedora 10 via yum. After install, when I attempt to start the service I get the error "Starting ntop: service not configured, run ntop manually". This generally requires that I run ntop from the command line, where it will ask me some questions for the initial configuration, including the admin password. After the initial startup, the service should simply work. What I see now is that ntop starts from the command line without asking the questions, but the settings from the previous install. Any ideas on how to reset ntop on Fedora. Any thoughts are appreciated. Matthew _____ Think Green! Please do not print this e-mail unless you need to.
