I'm a member of several non-public mailing lists dealing with Microsoft's
unified comunications solutions. I can assure you that that plugin got lots and
lots of attention, both good and bad, from inside and outside of Microsoft's
communications communities.

Unfortunately, most of those communications are covered under NDA - and it's
generally not worth it to me to keep up with what has become public (so that I
can talk about it), unless it directly involves the topics I'm interested in...

So....I read the announcement that it was fixed, that Google had announced it,
and an update would be distributed. I filed that item in my brain and moved on.
:-)

Where/how did you find out about the fix? I was unaware. Ironically, they
post in their blog entry about the update:

"To access these additional features and fixes, current users are being
updated automatically to the latest version"

The entry is dated June 30th. I've been running the broken plugin up to last
week and it never notified me an update was available.

That particular bug has been fixed.

It works just fine for email, just as the Outlook Connector does for
Hotmail/Livemail/etc.

But it doesn't provide any collaborative functionality, as far as I can see.

Subject: Google Apps Outlook sync plugin

Other than the plugin disabling Windows Search inside Outlook, does
anyone have anything to say about how well or poorly it works?

I'm just beginning to evaluate Google Apps Education Edition for a small
K-12 school (<100 users) and I'm actually rather keen to test out the
sync feature. It seems like MAPI without Exchange, which would be the
bees knees for smaller clients such as this particular school.

TIA,
RS
