LITTLE BLUE HERON BLACK-CTOWNED NIGHT-HERON SANDHILL CRANE ROUHG-LEGGED HAWK HUDSONIAN GODWIT LONG-BILLED DOWITICHER BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER LINCOLN’S SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 9/29: The LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen at May’s Point Pool. It was not reported this weekend and neither was the Ibis 10/03: 8 shorebird species including 21 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen at the visitor’s center. 2 SANDHILL CRANES and 4 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen in Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 10/04: A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was spotted in Knox-Marsellus Marsh. Onondaga County ------------ 10/02: An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a LINCOLN’S SPARROW were seen in Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. Oswego County ------------ 10/03: The first of the season ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, a dark phase, was seen from Bishop Hill Road north of Pulaski. Compiler’s note: Warbler species continue to dwindle but be on the lookout for the elusive ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER since now is the season.
