Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

12/9: 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen from VanDyne Spoor Road. 2 more were
seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.
Cortland County
------------
12/8: A COMMON REDPOLL was seen at a feeder in the Town of Scott.
Onondaga County
------------
12/8: GREAT HORNED OWLS were heard calling in the Town of Pompey. Early
breeding maybe? A MERLIN was seen on Banner Road in Tully.
12/10: One of the downtown Syracuse PEREGRINE FALCONS was spotted
escorting
a Red-tailed Hawk out of its space. A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen on Cross Lake from
Stevens Road along with a large number of Common Mergansers and 3 Bald Eagles.
12/12: A MERLIN was seen on Conners Road east of Rt. 31 in the Town of Van
Buren south of Baldwinsville.
Oswego County

12/6: 16 species of waterfowl and an ICELAND GULL were seen at Derby Hill.
12/7: 10 species of waterfowl plus one each ICELAND GULL, GLAUCOUS GULL,
and BLACK-LEGGED KITTYWAKE were seen from Derby Hill.
Cayuga County
------------
12/11: 2 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen along the east breakwall at Fair
Haven State Park.
Extralimital
------------
The Stewart Park (Cayuga Lake at Ithaca) was seen daily this week up to
12/12. There has no report, positive or negative, today.
