At about 3:30 today there was a very unusual American tree sparrow at the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station. It had the rufous cap and two white wing bars as normal, however its head was not gray, but spotty black. Above what would be the rufous eye line was a slight bit of gray before the cap. Also at West End @ parking lot was an adult lesser black backed gull, and leaving the West End area there was a single pipit in the median. Pat Jones, Massapequa, NY
