1/18/2012 - From the Hudson River waterfront at Newburgh (near Renwick St.), I
observed many ring-billed gulls out on the open water, a few great black-backed
gulls, several mallards, and several common mergansers. The mergansers were not
as plentiful as last week, when I had seen large rafts of them out on the
river. There was also a lone female lesser scaup present, not far from the
shore today. The scaup showed up three times while I was there, one time with
several mallards.
