Hugh McGuiness reported a large number of sandpipers on the sand flats, I was at the same area at roughly the same time, and had also very good looks at a Whimbrel,and took some nice pictures( if anyone wishes to see them). The bird was on the West side of the flats, while the sandpipers and Gulls were on the East. Andy Murphy --
