Our Day Tour along the Niagara River turned up 44 species. We covered Fort
Niagara, Lewiston Docks, Devil's Hole, Whirlpool, and Goat Island on the U.S.
side, and the Control Gates, Dufferin, and Adam Beck on the Canadian side.
Highlights included:

Red-throated Loon - 1
Common Loon - 2
Tundra Swan - 50+
13 species of duck
Merlin - 1
10 species of gull
Little Gull - 1 adult (Lewiston)
Bonaparte's Gull - 1000+ adults
Iceland Gull - 9
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 10
Thayer's Gull - 3 (1 1st winter, 1 2nd winter, 1 adult)
Black-legged Kittiwake - 2 1st winter (below Horseshoe Falls)
Yellow-legged Gull - 1 adult (Control Gates)
  - having no experience with this species, I was unsure of this bird at the
time - after further research and seeing the post by Richard Pope on Ontario
Birds, I am sure this is the bird we saw (it did not seem right for a Herring X
Lesser Black-backed hybrid).
