February 20   -  Buffalo, Niagara River   -    Today there was a beautiful 
breeding plumage male HARLEQUIN  DUCK seen from the West Side Rowing Club 
(about 300 yards south of  Peace Bridge).   The immature male KING EIDER was 
about 600 yards  north of Nickels Marine in Fort Erie or about 600 yards 
north of the Peace  Bridge.  A Ring-necked Duck X Scaup HYBRID DUCK was found 
about 400 yards  south of the International Rail Road Bridge and see from 
Squaw Island.  
 
Totals for Buffalo at Erie Basin Marina, West Side Rowing Club, Squaw  
Island south and north were:
7,500 Greater Scaups
2,950 Common Goldeneyes
1,000 Common Mergansers
570    Red-breasted Mergansers
118    White-winged Scoters
1       Surf Scoter
143    Long-tailed Ducks
1       Ring-necked  Duck     -  adult male from Erie Basin Marine
230  Canvasbacks
226  Redheads
880  Buffleheads
2     Ruddy Ducks
7     Glaucous Gulls
1     Bald Eagle
