So-called scavengers only occasionally get the press they deserve as predators. I watched a Fish Crow raiding Rock Pigeon nests, under an overpass along Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers late this morning. The crow would move from nest site to nest site, with adult pigeons flushing in its wake. Even common species have plenty to teach us birders...
