Greetings: This is the Syracuse Rare Bird Alert for the week of May 30, 2015.

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
     5/30: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen on Mays Point Road.     6/3: A LEAST 
BITTERN WAS SEEN ALONG THE WILDLIFE DRIVE.     6/5: An extremely rare GARGANEY 
was found at Knox-Marsellus Marsh and was observed by many lucky birders. A 
special thank you to Jay McGowan who initially found the bird and helped put 
other birders scopes on the bird. Unfortunately there have been no positive 
reports on the Garganey today. Also seen in the marsh was a BLACK-BELLIED 
PLOVER. An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was found along Towpath Road. A BLACK-CROWNED 
NIGHT-HERON was found at VanDyne Spoor road. A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER continues 
in the forested area on Armitage Road.     6/6: A RUDDY DUCK and a LEAST 
BITTERN were reported from Towpath Road.

Oswego County------------
     6/5: A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was seen at Sandy Pond.

Onondaga County------------
     5/30: A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found near Dewitt Marsh.     5/31: A late 
COMMON NIGHTHAWK was seen from Jamesvville Ave. in Syracuse.     6/1: An 
ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen at Green Lakes State Park.     6/4: An ACADIAN 
FLYCATCHER was heard briefly at the corner of 60 Road and Kellog Road at the 
Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville.  
Madison County------------
     5/31: An ORCHARD ORIOLE and a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW were found at the 
Tioughnioga WMA. 

Oneida County------------
     5/31: A WHIP-POOR-WILL was heard at Preston Hill Road north of Oneida 
Lake.     6/1: A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was reported in a traditional location at 
Spring Farm Nature Sanctuary south of Clinton.     6/2: 2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS 
were seen at the Deerfield Grasslands north of Utica.

Herkimer county------------
     5/30: An EVENING GROSBEAK was reported in the Fairfield area east of 
Middleville.
