On Saturday and Sunday I observed common terns and laughing gulls foraging over Robinsons Pond on south country road in east Patchogue.
Interesting observations included adult terns feeding juveniles, laughing gulls harassing terns and making them drop their catch, laughing gulls catching their own fish and the variety of fish species being caught. Additional birds included great egrets, snowy egrets, great blue heron and DC cormorants.
