Mei Yee and I birded the north end of the East Pond this afternoon until around
6:30 p.m.

There were not many shorebirds around but given high tide was still a few hours
away when we left, it is hard to measure the "true" volume. Nevertheless, in
that time frame the count was small.

Shorebird highlights included: 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, 23 Semipalmated
Sandpipers with the majority being juveniles. 5 STILT SANDPIPERS, of which 2
were juveniles. Several juvenile Lesser Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitchers and
Least Sandpipers rounded up the juvenile highlights.

Non shorebirding highlights included 1 banded Great Egret - white band with
black lettering. A few Green-winged Teals signaled the arrival of more
waterfowl.

In a first for me/us on the East Pond was a Cockatiel. The calls alerted me to
its presence as it flew over the pond heading west. Later, it flew back over
heading east and I again got on it due to its call and grabbed a few photos. A
new one for my NY exotic list.

Good Shorebirding!
