When I work on the NYS eBird Hotspots wiki I'll compare the previous bar chart list of species with the current one to pick up any new additions and/or deletions. By going to each county's 'Overview' page I can then determine the date the species was added for each county. Some are from newly submitted checklists from several years ago.
It is not possible on eBird.org to spot these additions from old checklists. On the Overview page you can sort on 'First Seen' but if the species was added months or years ago it won't appear at the top of the list. For each county on the wiki click the *'Overview'* link on the "*Explore a Location*" line: http://ebirding-nys.wikispaces.com/Birding+in+New+York Yellow highlights species added for the first time this year. *Cayuga County: * Nelson's Sparrow (8-Oct-2016) *Delaware County:* Red Phalarope (9-Oct-2016) *Lewis County:* Pectoral Sandpiper (19-Oct-2016) *Niagara County: * American Avocet (14-Oct-2016) *Ontario County:* Upland Sandpiper (28-Aug-2005) White-rumped Sandpiper (23-Oct-2005) Buff-breasted Sandpiper (12-Sep-2007) *Putnam County:* American Pipit (20-Oct-2016) *Schenectady County: * Orange-crowned Warbler (12-Oct-2016) -- Ben Cacace Manhattan, NYC Wiki for NYS eBird Hotspots <http://ebirding-nys.wikispaces.com/Birding+in+New+York> Facebook Discussion for NYS eBird Hotspots <https://www.facebook.com/groups/NYeBirdHotspots/> -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
