In a brief stop this morning there was a raft of 40-50 Canvasback, a single
drake Redhead duck, a single F scaup (don't ask which) and several bufflehead
and ruddy duck. For those who ride Metro North the ducks aren't far off shore.
Mariandale is S of Croton Harmon and N of Ossining. Should be visible from
train. Also one raven at Mariandale and then another at Thompson's Cider Mill
(Blinn Road by Teatown). Ravens certainly more common in recent years in
Westchester. Thompson's has THE best (unpasteurized) cider and at least two
dozen apple varieties for sale -- probably should have mentioned it before the
ending of season. Check its website for hours.
