Including birds seen from the south end of the Reservoir (DA) before the walk. Highlights: Red-necked Grebe, Red-headed Woodpecker, Northern Pintail, Great Blue Heron, Brown Thrasher. Canada Goose - 205+ Mallard - 100+ Northern Shoveler - 60+ (Turtle Pond (2) & Lake) Northern Pintail - male still showing traces of eclipse plumage at the Pond Bufflehead - 5 Reservoir Hooded Merganser - 7 Reservoir Ruddy Duck - around 150 Pied-billed Grebe - 2 Red-necked Grebe - 1 (bird released by Wild Bird Fund) Mourning Dove Ring-billed Gull - 6 Lake, a few others at the Reservoir Herring Gull - less than 50 Reservoir Great Black-backed Gull - around 20 Reservoir Double-crested Cormorant - 2 Reservoir Great Blue Heron - the Pond Red-tailed Hawk - 3 Red-headed Woodpecker - first-winter bird continuing at the Dene (approx. E 68th Street) Red-bellied Woodpecker - residents Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - maple north of Azalea Pond Downy Woodpecker - residents including 2 at Evodia field feeders Blue Jay - residents - several mobbing one of the Red-tailed Hawks Black-capped Chickadee - 10+ some at feeders Tufted Titmouse - 30+ some at feeders Brown Creeper - south end near Essex House before walk White-breasted Nuthatch - 10+ some at feeders Carolina Wren - Weather Station Brown Thrasher - Lasker Rink near the Pond House Finch - 1/2 dozen at feeders American Goldfinch - at least 12 (sweetgums in Ramble & at feeders) Fox Sparrow - 4 (Maintenance Field & Stone Arch) Song Sparrow - 2 Swamp sparrow - 59th Street Pond (mudflats) White-throated Sparrow - many Dark-eyed Junco - 7 Sparrow Rock Common Grackle - around 50 Many thanks to Jeffrey M.
