At the City University of New York, Mark and his team are studying the
social and genetic consequences of species recognition in avian brood
parasites, such as cuckoos, cowbirds and their hosts using behavioral,
developmental, physiological, and molecular tools.

In 2014 he published “The Book of Eggs: A Life-Size Guide to the Eggs of
Six Hundred of the World’s Bird Species.”
