Manhattan island, N.Y. City
Sunday, 19 February, 2017 - at 5:50 p.m. + in the evening, i.e.-

at dusk, or about 30 minutes past sunset, the 17 Canvasbacks
(including 10 bright adult males) near Riverbank State Park were on
the Hudson (very near shore) on the north side, or adjacent with about
West 146th Street, rather than the south side where most sightings had
been reported from. I was passing by and noticed the flock there on a
late-day bicycle ride of the Hudson river-green-way path which passes
all of this area.

At about 3:45 p.m., a sub-adult Bald Eagle was moving over central
Harlem (USA) going roughly west-northwest, perhaps moving across from
the western-most zone of Long Island Sound over towards the Hudson or
perhaps, New Jersey. The eagle was viewed from east Harlem, closer to
the East River-Harlem River confluence.

good birding,

Tom Fiore
