Central Park NYC - Strawberry Fields & Ramble

OBS: Robert DeCandido, PhD, m.ob.

Highlights: First-of-season House Wren, other migrants including Red-breasted 
Nuthatch, Black-and-white Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and an uptick in 
numbers for Hermit Thrush, Chipping and Swamp Sparrows. Several observers at 
the north end of the park reported a Marsh Wren at the Loch (See 
@BirdCentralPark on twitter for details on this nicely-photographed bird).

Mallard - 6
Mourning Dove - 7
Herring Gull - 4 flyovers
Double-crested Cormorant - 3 flyovers
Red-tailed Hawk - 3 (pair on the west side & an immature male)
Barred Owl - continues
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 6
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 4
Downy Woodpecker - 4
Northern Flicker - 4
Blue-headed Vireo - 3
Blue Jay - 8
American Crow - 1 Great Lawn
Red-breasted Nuthatch - south side of Turtle Pond
White-breasted Nuthatch - Laupot Bridge
House Wren - 3 (pair Strawberry Fields, 1 Shakespeare Garden)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet -  20-30
Hermit Thrush - 15-25
American Robin - flyover flock of 25 heading north at 7am, plus residents
House Finch - 7
American Goldfinch - 3
Chipping Sparrow - 15
Dark-eyed Junco - 5
White-throated Sparrow - 50-75
Song Sparrow - 3
Swamp Sparrow - 5
Eastern Towhee - female Shakespeare Garden
Red-winged Blackbird - 3

Yellow-rumped Warbler - 1 south side Turtle Pond
