On Saturday, October 9th Karen Evans found a Dickcissel in a pocket park,
Mathews-Palmer Playground, on 46th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues in
Manhattan. As is typical of Dickcissels, it was foraging with House Sparrows.
Unlike the House Sparrows it had a white throat, distinct, black malar stripes,
white eye rings, rusty wing coverts, a yellow wash in the submoustachial
stripes, as well as a sand-colored back with heavy, black streaks.
