Shortly before sunset today, Augie Kramer and Vicens Vila-Coury found a Yellow-headed Blackbird in Riverbank State Park in Manhattan. The bird was feeding with a flock of Brown-Headed Cowbirds on a narrow strip of grass by the highway. The flock did not stick around for long, and our attempts to find it after it took off were unsuccessful.

If accepted, this will be the first eBird record of the species in New York County. I am told that one prior county record is mentioned in Urban Ornithology by Buckley.

Good luck to all with the ongoing rarity season!
