Manhattan, N.Y. City -

At Morningside Park in Manhattan, a brightly-plumaged Red-headed Woodpecker was
ongoing for Wed., May 3rd, in same general areas it had been there on prior
days of May - see report from 5/2, etc. - west side of the park, nearer 115th
St. area…

At Central Park also in Manhattan, a Yellow-throated Warbler was ongoing (and
occasionally singing, as in previous days) in the north end of that park for
May 3rd, having been at the Loch and vicinity for some hours on Wed. There
are many many other migrants about for Wed. as well, including ongoing Least
Flycatcher[s], and a wide variety of other warbler spp. as well as many more
migrant (and some breeding-resident) species. A very few Y.-b. Cuckoo sightings
were coming in, while at least some additional numbers of certain migrant
warbler species were growing a bit (in the county) such as Blackburnian,
Magnolia, Chestnut-sided, and some other warblers.

Interestingly, a few more Gray-cheeked Thrush reports are coming thru for other
areas in N.Y. City and vicinity, after (or contemporaneous with) the one found
in Central Park’s Ramble, this a bit early for an arrival of the species, by
most prior-year’s spring phenologies.
