New York County (in New York City), including Manhattan -with Central Park- and
Randalls and Governors Island[s] - mainly from Thursday-Friday, Aug. 24th-25th -

Among highlights for numbers of observers was Wilsons Snipe, seen in Central
Park (where it is near-annual but in some years very skulking) first on
Thursday at The Pool, then by Friday presumed that same snipe in the nearby
Loch, both areas within the north sector of that park. Wilson’s Snipe
also occur in the expected periods of passage on Randalls Island and elsewhere
in the county with some regularity - however, regularity does not mean always
seen * by very many * birders here.

A Prothonotary Warbler seen by many observers on Thursday at the Ramble in
Central Park was NOT found again the following day anywhere in the county.
Various many other warbler species did continue for Friday, including such
species as Nashville, Tennessee, Worm-eating, Blackburnian, Canada,
Blue-winged, Bay-breasted, Magnolia, Prairie, Wilsons, and many of Cape May as
well as at least sixteen more warbler species for the day in this county; all
of those species also being found within Central Park as well as multiple other
locations for some spp. The most-regularly seen species of warbler again likely
American Redstart, with some of them seen even in street trees and in multiple
smaller greenspaces.

Going back about one week, on Aug. 19th, modestly early Blue-headed Vireo was
among the spate of somewhat early returnees from nesting-grounds, at least one
or two of that vireo being found in Central Park for that date, and having been
confirmed as well by eBird reviews after a short delay. We have had modest
numbers of Swainsons Thrushes come in, with one (amongst others) very
nicely-photographed on Governors Island on Aug. 23 (C. Weiner), while a few
others of that species had been seen earlier in the county.
