An adult roseate tern was photographed by myself and others this morning at
Coney Island Creek Park in Brooklyn (Kings County). It was continuing as of
around 12:30 this afternoon. The bird was associating with a large flock of
common terns, and has been loafing with them on the beach for the majority
of the time. It was also on the decrepit pier at the western end of the
park. This species is very uncommon in NYC and tends not to be chaseable
when it occurs, so I figured this was worth a message. Photos of the bird
are in the linked ebird checklist.
