Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City - Wednesday, Aug. 30th -

The Golden-winged Warbler seen at and near the Azalea Pond in the Ramble
section of the Park was a nice highlight for multiple observers. Despite a
reduction in migrant diversity from last weekend into this midweek period,
still at least 18 species of American warblers were found into Wednesday in
this one park, fewer than the 24+ species of warblers seen even to this Monday
there.

Over this prior weekend. nice sightings from Governors Island, in New York
County -within which Manhattan island also exists- included more Bobolinks, and
also Boat-tailed Grackle, the latter noted by A. Barry. There have been some
further sightings of Red-breasted Nuthatches, from various sites in the county
although by now, a modest number are typical of many -but not all- fall seasons
here.

More reports to come once north winds give us fresh migration locally - as
occurred for Wednesday super-blue-moon night into Thursday, the last day of
August. Thanks to all of the quiet and keen observers for some of various many
sightings and reporting.

Good birding to all,

Tom Fiore
