Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City -
Thursday, 9/21 and prior recent days

A Connecticut Warbler at Centrals north end was seen by multiple observers, as
well as photographed on Wed., 9/20. That on the heels of a Connecticut in lower
Manhattan which stayed in place there and gave 100+ observers views and photos,
over recent days. Central Park also again had Summer Tanager at the northwest
quadrant of the Park, and in recent days, such species as Marsh Wren,
Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Slate-colored Junco and many other early-fall
migrants or wintering species started to reappear there, as well as elsewhere
in Manhattan, and perhaps thru the county. More on New York County overall, in
a future report here.
....
There were some interesting sightIngs for Bryant Park in recent days, including
even a few of the many, many Broad-winged Hawks migrating now and this week
over Manhattan, including over Central Park, and the larger region in huge
numbers. Some of the warblers showing at Bryant Park in mid-Manhattan included
Mourning and Hooded, which also were seen at Central Park. Up to 19 or more
warblers continued for Central Park into Thursday, 9/19, with updates on more,
perhaps in a further report.

Good birding to all,

Tom Fiore
Manhattan
