Hmm, I'm a bit unsure about this one. In Matlab, 'fstat' does the same as the function in the 'statistics' package; Matlab does not have the 'fstat' function for dealing with file handles that comes with core Octave. So, for compatibility it would be better to rename the function in core Octave, but that might break existing code. I guess we should discuss this on the maintainers list. I'll start a thread.
