You might want to check http://tempo.intalio.org which is an open-source
implementation of the BPEL4People idea and concepts. The project is
just getting set up but the code is already functional. Basically, it's
a set of service components (most implemented with Axis2) that provide
task list management, escalation, claims, attachments, etc. The user
interface part is based on the Orbeon XForms engine (by default) but you
can plug in any other web framework if you wish.
