It depends if you are ever likely to run USB 2.0. I grabbed a random 4port USB 1.1 from CompUSA at $20, and it works fantastic in an 8500. USB 2 is gonna run you some serious money, and personally I prefer Firewire. I think the fairly hefty pricehike between USB 1 and 2 prevents me from recommending USB 2.0 as a just-in-case purchase.
