Ron,

1) To be factory original, the perfect proof would be the window sticker showing the Olds option code for a 425 engine, either installed at the factory on the assembly line, or installed by the dealer in the dealership's garage. Unfortunately, no such factory Olds option code exists for a 425 in an A-body.

2) For a dealer modification, a paid receipt for a 425 engine, parts, and labor from the dealership showing the dealership installed a 425 engine in the car, said engine ordered through the parts department. Since there is no Olds factory option code for this dealer installed 425 engine, this would be a dealer installed modification to an original factory production Olds A-body.

Do you see the difference. One is an official option authorized by the Oldsmobile Division of GM, either installed by the GM assembly crew on the production line or by the dealer.

The other is a *****MODIFICATION***** done by the dealer, which is UNauthorized by the Oldsmobile Division of GM as an option. The modification has *NO* warranty by Olds.

Isn't this fun??!! For the sake of "discussion", exactly how would one "prove" that his 65-442 came with a 425?
