Wait a minute. Your initial post said the engine races freely without the car accelerating when you floor it, IIRC? Is this right?


Fred's right. If the engine is revving up, and you're not going anywhere, how did the mech. come up with the idea of a fuel delivery problem? That makes no sense. So what is it? Does sudden WOT poduce a engine that races as if it's in nuetral, or does the engine just pause or bog due to fuel starvation? These are 2 different and distinct problems.

engine racing at WOT = something wrong inside the trans, as discussed previously, or even a bad torque converter.

engine pausing or bogging at WOT = poor fuel delivery, can be caused by a hole or tear or other porosity in the fuel pump diaphragm decreasing fuel volume flow.
