The change, BTW, is that upstream has ALSO removed machid(1) from illumos.  
Since we already had done it, our diffs are  functionally the same, but I chose 
to inherit upstream's (modulo one copyright line) for future goodness:

So those of you with altered /etc/profile or /etc/.login files will need to be 
aware you'll be getting .new ones installed on the next bloody, or with r151014 
if you don't do bloody.
