[Winona Online Democracy]

I recently had a conversation with a nine year old grandchild about what
jobs I had in my youth. I started with yard work, babysitting, soda jerk
in an icecream parlor, hoeing weeds for a canning company, working the can
line in
the canning company for long hours, helping manage a "drive-in", playground
supervisor, elevator operator in a hospital(that took a little
explanation), library assistant and then my many teaching jobs from Mn to
Germany to Calif to Mn. Well, my grand son proceeded to inform me of all
the jobs I could be doing in Winona! He was not quite satisfied that I
like my RETIREMENT job which I think I have earned. So he is still looking
for places I could work and his grandfather encourages him. Hmmm. His
youth work ethic is good even though his responsibilities are home jobs.
I think he will be OK.
