Just a follow-up, Simple2ZOOM 1.0.4 was released in June 2009 and it fixed the off-by-one error (although credit went to Simon jacob at the National Library of Australia (http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/MIRK/Net-Z3950-Simple2ZOOM-1.04/Changes) - at least the credit stayed in the Commonwealth!) So, new installs of the Evergreen Z39.50 server shouldn't have to apply any special patches. Thanks again, Warren. -- Dan Scott Laurentian University
