Hello, all. I think I must be sorely misinterpreting the documentation
for creating a ca node. I initialized the database when I created the
CA. Now that I have fully initialized the CA and the initial RA
administrator and RA, I moved onto the next section of the
documentation, viz., 2. Node Initialization.

It reads:
"After you setup an offline CA you usually wants to setup one or more
online servers to publish certificates and CRL, receive requests and
offers a lot of other services to your customers. To do so you have to
install the necessary components plus a so called node interface. This
node interface is used to manage the communication in the PKI hierarchy
between the different servers and to manage the server itself. If you
initialize such an online component then you have to use this node
interface."

That makes perfect sense but then it says:

After you logged in you have to go to and then to . First you should
initialize the database and then you have to import the configuration
from the CA or any other server which is at a higher position of the
PKI's hierarchy. The last step also creates things like a working
certificate chain.

I went to the node administration menu and clicked on Show SQL
statements for database initialization
It looks like it would wipe out the database I already created. Is one
really supposed to initialize the database again or am I misinterpreting
the documentation?

Thanks - John
