I agree. And we do not need any "beginners' guide" at this point. 
However, I do not think I am the only one who'd be interested in 
experimenting with the TCL interface but is slightly overwhelmed by this 
shift of paradigm.

So, even a single example where something stupidly simple data is 
fetched would help to get started with port 5555 and external scripting. 
The example may very well be written in TCL (which seems to give a very 
simple socket interface) or Ruby, or Python, or lua, or...
