Actually, that's on purpose, it's supposed to do that. I was having problems
getting the login to work on this server (which also serves a lot of other
things), and redirecting to https was the only thing that worked...
The only real problem with that is that the gallery image links don't work, but
for a logged-in user that's hopefully not a problem.
