the idea is that negative coordinates are not relative to the bottom
left, but instead the top right viewport corner (similar to how you
specify window locations on X11 with the standard --geometry command
line option).
I've not looked if it is implemented correctly for all variations of
negative and relative/absolute coords though, so if you have a case that
behaves incorrectly, please let us know.
