When I deleted /var/log/cron file, then touched /var/log/cron and then started cron - everything went back to normal. Why the f&(#$^%* it wasn't working, I don't understabd... /var/log/cron was small (~30k), "df -k /var/log" gave me about 1 Gig of free space...
