It is used for monitoring, diagnosis and tuning. You can find the scripts that create and manage statspack in the $ORACLE_HOME/RDBMS/Admin directory. All of the files that are related to it begin with "sp", such as spcreate.sql (which is the script that creates the user, tables and packages for the statspack "schema"). http://otn.oracle.com/deploy/performance/pdf/statspack_tuning_otn_new.pdf http://www.osborne.com/pressroom/0072133783_press.shtml (THE book on statspack tuning) http://www.dba-oracle.com/art_statspack.htm (Don Burleson's web site) http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=statspack (Google is a wonderful thing).
