I have a monitoring script that polls and monitors all the databases through a database link. If someone happens to shutdown or delete a database, the SQL connection through the database link just seems to hang forever and screws everything up. Can someone tell me how to set a time limit on the calling server so the connection will time out? I already have SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = 60 set in the sqlnet.ora but it doesn't appear to help.
