As a De Paul University Alumnus the writer was overjoyed to hear that
Islamofasicm week was scheduled to begin here in the Windy City at my old
Alma Mater on Monday, October 22, 2007. Though the event was billed as a
discussion of "War with Iran" a glance at those in attendance made it
obvious that they had come to defame, discredit and academically lynch Jihad
Watch founder Robert Spencer. Though the pre-event chatter was somewhat
chaotic the names Horrowitz, Savage and Bush were overhead mingled with the
predictable slurs of racist, bigot and Islamophobe.

The irony of this first night of Islamofascism Awareness week at De Paul
University is that it was held in a former chapel of the McCormick [1]
Theological Seminary, which the school purchased in the 1980's while
expanding the Lincoln Park North Side campus. The 100 plus in attendance
were surrounded by a truly medieval structure and framed by impressive
founders of this early Windy City landmark. Though this beautiful structure
is far better suited to the madrigals and motets of Palestrina and Dufay
that are often heard there [2] this evening was to witness a strange
symphony of hardly sonorous sounds.

After a brief introduction by De Paul's moderator the packed church building
was introduced to Iranian ex-pat and five-year beneficiary of Islamofascist
hospitality and real torture, Amir Abbas Fakhravar. The Iranian hero
introduced himself in English and though his oratory was superb, elected to
continue for the remainder of the evening in his native tongue, using the
services of an interpreter. As the Corpus delicti of the Ahmedinijad regime
was revealed to a rapt audience, an Iranian student muttered, "Don't
translate that!", leading one to wonder just what truths the youthful
Mujahideen were attempting to conceal. Fakravar's concluding oration became
heated and the intense passion he felt in trying to warn the young sheep
being led to slaughter became obvious. Though politically correct Chicago
folks dismiss the idea, any seasoned savant understood that the brave
Crusader was risking his very life by revealing the terrible reality of life
in the Iranian Mullahocracy.

Robert <http://jihadwatch.org/> Spencer followed and with his usual
diplomacy and courage reminded the doubting Mohammeds the Jihad "Ideology"
[3] that constitutes the foundational texts of Islamic society provide the
motivation for the Global Jihad now threatening the entire world. Drawing on
his world-renowned expertise, the author of seven books, eight monographs,
and hundreds of articles about jihad and Islamic terrorism, including the
New York Times Bestsellers the Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the
Crusades), The Truth about Muhammad and Religion of Peace? (Why Christianity
is and Islam isn't!) was an inspiration to all of us who try to spread the
real story of Islamic Terror. In a superb presentation liberally peppered
with references to Qur'an verses 8:39, 8:39, 9:73 and 47:4 with an emphasis
on the importance of the Sunnah the audience heard the shocking truth -
Islam is the cause of Terrorism. Emphasizing the murder of Theo Van Gogh and
the scores of women awaiting death by stoning in Persian prisons, Spencer
stressed the need for "Reform" and m vigorously reminded his listeners that
there could be no reform where there is no dialogue. Since this is the
prevailing mode on American campuses and the three years of De Paul
University's Islamic Studies Academic Major Program has entrenched the
"Religion of Peace" paradigm in the young Blue Demons [4] in Attendance were
stunned by such an "In Your Face" approach.

A brief "Discussion" followed introduced by De Paul Political Science
Professor Hibbert who avers that the current dispute between the US, EU and
Iran is all about Oil - of course! In a remarkable display of intellectual
cowardice the young Department Chair was so brash as to allude to the
current conflict in Iraq and present the issue as yet another instance of
American Imperialism. The chairperson did his best to totally ignore the
points made by Spencer regarding role of Islamic texts and their connection
to Terror, but the Jihadwatch founder deftly kept the discussion on track as
the audience grew increasingly hostile. The sense of outrage at having to
confront the inconvenient truth was omnipresent and the atmosphere charged
with tension.

After the conclusion of this lively 'academic' discourse the real fireworks
began as those in attendance were invited to the microphone to question the
panel. The first volley was aimed directly at Spencer by a baby faced but
vocal student who began screaming "How dare you say such things when
Palestinians are dying?" After a few references to the firing of Professor
Norman Finklestein, officials wisely cut off the microphone but this did not
augur well for the promise of informative academic debate. The next
inquisitor was a young woman from Columbia in Chicago [5] whose lame
rhetoric also soon grew boisterous and she was given the hook in a hurry.
Next to the microphone was an older gentleman who repeated the same loud
diatribe without saying anything intelligent. At this point, the moderator
decided that the "Students" would be given preference since there were at
least ten young gals garbed in Islamically proper hijab [6] anxiously
waiting their turn to smear and defame their guests. Fortunately, there were
no visible NOI [7] members present and any AK-47's were well hidden but
events went downhill from there. The intended Action in personam began with
a vengeance and Spencer was enemy number one. The obvious presence of a few
bodyguards surveying the room was reassuring but a company of Marines would
have been a better.

After the respectful but disingenuous kangaroo court ended, the disgruntled
crowd migrated to the lobby of the Center [8] where a book signing was
scheduled to take place. In a disgraceful display of jejune arrogance the
young Islamofascists of De Paul and their satraps gathered in an opposite
corner of the room and began to chant and sing. The racket that this created
made any discussion impossible and their original intent to silence any
discourse became reality.

Reports from other campuses around the county tell the same story and
confirm the need to reassert academic freedom in the American University.
With its long history of Vincentian excellence in education and the legacy
of St. Vincent De Paul the little College under the El [9] and the Rev.
Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M. [10] should be ashamed. The media was glad
that violence had been avoided but when legitimate discourse has to be held
hostage to threats of violence collegiate Terror has gained a firm foothold.
When the Nation <http://depaul.edu/> 's Number One Catholic University is
held hostage by the violent intimidation of a cabal of barely adolescent
Terrorists the future does not auger well for American education. Though the
fight has just begun these insidious ideas have infested the high schools
and are even taught to students in grammar school since the left has control
of the classroom. All in all the evening was a great start that demonstrates
we've got a huge battle to fight with the Pedagogic despotism that has
enslaved our schools in this Greatest county of God's Green Earth.
