Gregg,

I'm truly looking to get out of the packaging business. It is the least rewarding aspect of this project -- making a system that will install on multiple distributions.

So if you have a system that will easily create packages from source code, I'm all ears.

As for slackware, don't the tar.gz files work?

Hello!
Paul, this may sound surprising, but what about adding another
distribution to your parade? It seems that FC5 is very stable. It's
only problem for me is that the installer makes too many presumptions
for the user. Or even my favorite, Slackware.

Subject: Re: [Owfs-developers] owfs php modual

That's because I can't get it to find the right build packages on
SUSE.

(Something about coreutils).

I finally got everything building in Ubuntu (see the wiki for needed
packages and work-araounds), but building rpms on that platform turns
out to have problems.

Any suggestions?

Have a look at config.log - you will probably see something like:

configure:19964: checking if owphp is enabled
configure:19975: result: yes
configure:19988: WARNING: Cannot find php-config program. Look for it
at
http://www.php.net
configure:19990: WARNING: OWPHP is disabled because php-config is not
found

The php-config script is (as far as I know) a result of compiling php
from
scratch, but it is not included i the rpm-package. So I think you have
to
uninstall php (rpm -e php) and then download and compile the
sourcecode
from scratch.
