I'm having e-mail problems. This is what I wrote: Roberto, If you are mainly interested in a switch, the DS2408 has 8 switches and is fully supported. If you are interested in thermocouples, the DS27xx family (DS2751 DS2755/6 DS2760/1/2 DS2770 DS2780/1) all have temperature, switch, and thermocouple support built in with known (and commercially available) circuits. The real function of the DS2450 is its voltage sening -- 4 channels. Not terribly accurate (8 bits despite what the datasheet says), but the 0-5V range is nice. Many of the battery chips (DS2438, and DS27xx) have accurate voltage channels, but with more constrained ranges ( e.g. 3-10V).
With the DS18xx and DS2436/8 and DS27xx all measuring temperature (and thermocrons, humidicrons), it's hard to see the utility of another temperature system. Nevertheless, if you build a working circuit and publish the system, I put in support.
